International Women’s Day: Celebrating Gender Equality for Latin Women in Australia

Every year, on March 8th, International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated worldwide to commemorate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year’s theme is #ChooseToChallenge, a call to action to challenge gender bias and inequality, and to work towards creating a gender-equal world.

As Latin women living in Australia, we have the unique opportunity to celebrate our heritage and achievements, while also facing the challenges of living in a new country. Gender equality is a key issue for us, as it affects every aspect of our lives, from access to education and employment, to health and safety.

According to the World Economic Forum, the global gender pay gap stands at 16%, with women earning 84 cents for every dollar earned by men.
